The Polish bakery keeping a Krakow tradition alive in Cork

On a quiet street in Cork, the smell of fresh chalka drifts from a small bakery that has become a meeting point for the city's Polish community.

Its owner arrived in Ireland fifteen years ago with a single family recipe. Today the shelves carry rye breads, poppy-seed rolls and cakes that regulars say taste like home.

"Food is how we hold on to where we come from," she says, "and how we share it with our new neighbours."
